2016's most wanted

2016’s most wanted

By now, you’re probably well aware that there’s a skills shortage facing the UK. And for those of you who’ve recruited recently, you probably found it an awful lot harder to find that new employee than you would have 18 months ago.

Although I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news, it’s not going to get any easier anytime soon either – sorry.

In fact, the Office of National statistics has pinpointed a few areas where this skills shortage is going to get even worse in 2016.

Let’s take a look at 2016’s most wanted.

1.  High end Technical and Engineering

Including Maintenance Engineers (Electrical & Mechanical) and Quality Managers

2.  Sales & Business Development

Including Business Consultants, Sales Advisors, Sales Representatives and Business Development Managers

3.  Finance, Professional, Managerial

Including Management Accountants, Finance Controllers, Accounts assistants, Credit Controllers, Purchase / sales ledger clerks, Office Managers, Personal and Executive Assistants, Customer Services Advisors, HR Assistants, Marketing Assistants and Digital Marketing Assistants

If you didn’t spot any roles above that relate to your organisation then don’t breathe a sigh of relief just yet – the recruitment landscape is in a continual state of flux and this list grows longer by the day.

All of these skill shortages will certainly have an impact on your business, and by not having the right people in the right positions and the right time you’re leaving yourself wide open to big problems further on down the line.

However with an element of creative thinking and a bit of insider expertise this could be avoided and you can stay one step ahead of the competition.

But first you need to take a step back and take an objective look at your current recruitment position, and who better to help than someone who’s been in the industry for 18 years and knows recruitment inside out.
