HR Managers spend average of 28 days on recruitment process

Recent findings from a survey undertaken by Robert Half UK have unveiled that the recruitment process is taking longer than ever before with UK HR Managers spending almost a month to recruit for a vacancy.

The findings show that 27.59 days in total are taken to successfully complete the recruitment process from start to finish with each key stage taking around the four-day mark to complete.

The most time-consuming element of the recruitment process is reporting as being CV screening, where hiring managers sift through all applications to cherry pick the candidates best suited for the role. Interviewing selected candidates is also one of the most time intensive tasks, with an average of 4.7 days scheduled to meet with prospective new employees.

Skills testing is one of the least time consuming tasks, coming in at 4.2 days.

Not only does a long-winded recruitment process take HR Managers away from other tasks and responsibilities essential to the day to day functioning of an organisation, but statistics also show that good quality candidates are either put off by a drawn-out recruitment process or are snapped up by other businesses who are quicker to make a decision on who to employ.

More than half of UK companies have admitting losing their star candidate to another opportunity as their in-house recruitment process took too long.
