Who – Large, local, manufacturing company Appointments were approached by a large, local manufacturing company whose business had been consistently growing. As part of their growth, they needed a large volume of ongoing temporary workers to fill skilled and unskilled industrial roles. What – Demand for production operators to meet production output Unfortunately, the three local recruitment partners they currently had in place was were unable to meet the demand of the numbers and in the words of our clients were ‘just sending anyone’. This was reducing the volume of manufacturing that could take place and was severely affecting the company on a financial level as well as their relationships with customers. How – Getting to know the roles and applying our 7-step vetting process At Appointments, we pride ourselves on open, honest communication and supplying the best people for the job, regardless of contract type. We would rather inform the client we didn’t have staff available than send workers we were not 100% sure would be reliable and capable. The client appreciated this authentic approach, and we sprang to work. To fully understand what was required by the workers our consultants job shadowed the roles initially. Next, we used our 7-step vetting process to ensure only the most suitable candidates were placed with the client and created a candidate handbook to ensure new starters were fully aware of expectations, induction processes and health and safety policies. Furthermore, we improved communication with hiring managers through the implementation of regular Preferred Supplier List reviews to assess our performance and the quality of candidates being supplied. We agreed updated processes and conducted a benchmarking exercise that found pay rates were lower than competitors, which was having a direct impact on attracting high quality talent. Outcome – Appointments become preferred supplier Thanks to our consultants thorough and quick work, Appointments are now successfully recruiting in excess of 15 new staff per week and have become the client’s preferred supplier. Appointments are more than a recruitment agency; we are a recruitment partner that can aid you with creating the best recruitment strategy for your business. Who – Global Manufacturer Whilst Appointments are dedicated to supporting clients and candidates throughout Staffordshire and Cheshire, we are still able to effectively manage relationships with global organisations too. This case study explains how we supported a large manufacturer. What – Specialist roles that were proving hard to fill This global manufacturer, with a base of operations in Staffs, was working with a number of local recruitment agencies but was still unable to meet their demand. None were able to keep pace with the high level of growth they were experiencing, particularly with hard-to-fill, specialised roles. So they asked Appointments Personnel if they could help meet the demand. How – Using local knowledge of the recruitment market Appointments were able to start filling these specialised roles and built trust with the client, thanks to our years of recruitment knowledge and experience of the local employment landscape. Who – Existing Client wanting ad hoc support An existing client of Appointments approached us to discuss additional support to help them manage their holiday and sickness cover in back-office roles. Their relationship with Appointments Personnel meant that they knew that we could offer reliable, flexible support as and when they needed it. What – Cover for holiday and Sickness Whilst the company were aware they could use temporary staff; they had already tried this with another agency and found it frustrating that they would consistently receive different temporary workers and would have to spend time training unfamiliar staff. They wanted people who would slot into the business as and when they needed them who were familiar with their processes to reduce onboarding issues each time. How – Specific recruitment drive for temporary staff To resolve the issue the Appointments team began a recruitment drive specifically for general office support staff. We were looking specifically for staff that were happy to be “on-call” and work on a flexible basis for this particular client. Outcome – Extended team available to slot in when needed for cover Appointments innovative and “out the box” thinking meant the client was easily able to cover holidays and sickness absence without having to spend time introducing a new member of staff to the team or training someone new each time. The new team members became an extended part of the team who could slot into the business easily and start supporting the rest of the back office team straightaway. If you are looking for occasional temporary or flexible staff to cover holiday, or sickness absence give us a call.
