Are you a detail-driven Buyer with construction experience looking for your next challenge?

We’re hiring a proactive and organised Buyer to join a growing main contractor with a strong reputation in the industrial and commercial construction sector. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with project teams to keep everything running smoothly, on time, and on budget.

You'll play a key part in our expanding team, supporting projects valued between £8m–£25m and helping ensure our supply chain runs like clockwork.

What you’ll be doing as a Buyer:

  • Sourcing and purchasing construction materials, plant, tools, and subcontractor services
  • Building strong supplier relationships and negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
  • Raising purchase orders and tracking deliveries to ensure materials arrive on-site as needed
  • Coordinating with Site Managers to resolve delivery issues and meet project timelines
  • Monitoring and managing inventory to avoid shortages or overstocking
  • Working closely with QS and Accounts teams to align purchasing with project budgets and cost plans
  • Keeping detailed procurement records and assisting with budget tracking and reporting
  • Supporting the preparation of tender documentation and market rate analysis
  • Ensuring all materials meet required quality, health & safety, and compliance standards

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in a construction buying/procurement role (essential)
  • Good knowledge of construction materials and supplier networks
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and procurement software
  • Experience working with Quantity Surveyors and Accounts teams
  • Relevant qualifications in procurement, supply chain, or construction (desirable)
