Appointments Personnel is recruiting for a Contract & Compliance Officer in Stoke-on-Trent to join an established business. This role suits someone with a background in contract management, regulatory compliance, risk and data protection who enjoys a varied, office-based position.
The Role
As our Contract & Compliance Officer, you will manage the contract lifecycle, maintain regulatory compliance and spot legal, financial and operational risks before they become problems. You will work closely with internal departments, senior management and external advisors to make sure contracts, policies and procedures meet the required standards across the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, amend and manage contracts to meet legal, regulatory and business requirements.
- Maintain accurate contract records, monitoring key dates, renewals, expiries and obligations.
- Identify legal, financial and compliance risks, escalating significant issues to senior management.
- Monitor UK and European legislation, including GDPR and other data protection requirements.
- Carry out internal compliance audits and data security reviews.
- Prepare compliance reports for senior management, highlighting performance, breaches and areas for improvement.
- Develop, review and update internal policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor supplier, contractor and partner compliance with contractual terms, and manage contract terminations where required.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, external legal advisors, auditors and consultants when necessary.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this Contract & Compliance Officer role, you’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a legal, contracts or compliance-related role.
- Experience reviewing, managing and maintaining contracts.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and relevant legislation, including data protection.
- Experience conducting internal audits and monitoring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, with strong organisation and time management.
- Integrity, professionalism and discretion.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary of up to £40,000, depending on experience.
- Permanent, full-time position.
- 37.5 hours per week.
