Are you an organised, practical person who enjoys working in a busy manufacturing environment? We are currently recruiting for a Dispatch Operator / Goods Inwards to join an established manufacturing company in Stoke-on-Trent.
This is a varied, hands-on position where you'll play an important role in making sure finished products are checked, prepared and safely dispatched to customers, while also supporting the Goods Inwards function when required.
The Role
As a Dispatch Operator / Goods Inwards, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Checking completed orders against delivery notes and relevant paperwork.
- Inspecting finished products to ensure they are in excellent condition before leaving site.
- Safely wrapping, protecting and packaging furniture, joinery and upholstered products.
- Labelling and organising goods ready for the correct delivery or project.
- Preparing dispatch documentation and keeping records up to date.
- Keeping the dispatch and storage areas organised, tidy and safe.
- Working closely with Production and Projects teams to ensure orders are ready on time.
- Loading company vehicles and making sure goods are safely secured for transport.
- Monitoring packaging supplies and highlighting when further materials are needed.
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures.
Supporting Goods Inwards
You will also provide cover for the Goods Inwards team when required, including:
- Receiving and unloading incoming deliveries.
- Checking quantities and materials against purchase orders and delivery paperwork.
- Identifying damaged, incorrect or missing items and reporting any issues.
- Labelling incoming materials and directing them to the appropriate department or project.
- Moving stock and materials safely around the site.
- Maintaining accurate Goods Inwards records.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates with previous experience in dispatch, warehousing, manufacturing, logistics or Goods Inwards.
You will ideally have:
- Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately check products and paperwork.
- Strong organisational skills and a reliable approach to your work.
- Experience handling products or materials carefully and safely.
- The physical ability to move and handle goods as part of the role.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with different teams.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing to a wider production team.
- A forklift licence would be an advantage, although it is not essential.
- A full UK driving licence would also be beneficial.
Previous experience within furniture, joinery, upholstery or a similar manufacturing environment would be particularly useful, but candidates with relevant dispatch or warehouse experience are encouraged to apply.
