An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller
to join a well-established, international manufacturing business in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a hands-on and strategic position where you’ll take ownership of the company’s financial operations, working closely with senior leadership to drive performance, improve processes, and support business growth.

Key responsibilities
As Financial Controller, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of the business:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and deliver accurate financial reporting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records
- Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team to provide financial insight and guidance
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors
- Deliver detailed financial analysis, highlighting risks and opportunities
- Manage cost accounting, including product costing and variance analysis
- Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow and working capital management
- Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, and statutory reporting requirements
- Develop and improve internal controls, systems, and financial processes
- Lead and support the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture
- Work closely with operational teams to support production and business performance
- Monitor financial risk and implement mitigation strategies
About you
To thrive as a Financial Controller, you’ll bring strong technical knowledge along with leadership and commercial awareness:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar, or a recognised professional qualification (e.g. CPA)
- Experience in a senior finance role within a multinational organisation
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Strong systems knowledge, ideally SAP or similar ERP platforms
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
- A hands-on, detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Experience managing and developing finance teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Willingness to travel when required
