Our client is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Coordinator to join their team and support the continued development of their Health & Safety standards across a busy manufacturing environment.

Reporting into the Head of QHSE, this role will play a key part in maintaining and improving the company’s Health & Safety management systems, supporting production, warehouse, office and technical operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a positive Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance requirements are maintained and providing practical support to managers and employees across the business.

This is a hands-on role, combining shop-floor engagement with Health & Safety administration, documentation and compliance coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of QHSE with the maintenance and improvement of Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Carry out regular workplace inspections across production, warehouse and office areas, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Support the completion and review of risk assessments, COSHH assessments, safe systems of work and method statements.
  • Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, documentation, action trackers and compliance records.
  • Manage Health & Safety documentation through SharePoint, ensuring effective version control and document accuracy.
  • Support accident, incident and near-miss reporting, including investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain training records and coordinate Health & Safety inductions, refresher training and toolbox talks.
  • Support the organisation of statutory inspections, servicing requirements and compliance activities.
  • Liaise with contractors and external service providers to ensure Health & Safety requirements are met.
  • Support internal audits, external inspections and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining emergency arrangements, including fire wardens, first aiders, emergency equipment and evacuation procedures.
  • Support environmental compliance activities, including waste management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day Health & Safety guidance and support to employees and managers across the business.

The Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a Health & Safety, compliance or coordination role and ideally have experience within a manufacturing, engineering, warehouse or technical environment.

You will ideally have:

  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification (essential).
  • Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience supporting risk assessments, workplace inspections and audits.
  • Experience maintaining Health & Safety documentation, records and compliance trackers.
  • Experience working with managers, employees and external contractors.
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and document management systems such as SharePoint.

Desirable Experience:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Internal auditing qualification or experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Experience supporting accident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or warehouse environments.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, DSEAR or other relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience coordinating statutory inspections and contractor compliance.
