An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business. Working within a busy operations team, you will be responsible for carrying out laboratory testing, quality control and product verification, ensuring products meet specification, regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
This is a hands-on laboratory role requiring a strong understanding of analytical testing, quality management systems and laboratory best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out laboratory testing and analysis on raw materials, work in progress and finished products.
- Record, interpret and verify test results against product specifications.
- Perform quality control checks in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, arranging repairs where required.
- Develop, validate and maintain analytical testing methods.
- Prepare technical documentation, including product certification and supporting compliance records.
- Produce and maintain Safety Data Sheets and other regulatory documentation.
- Ensure laboratory equipment, reference materials and consumables are adequately stocked.
- Support compliance with ISO quality management systems and laboratory procedures.
- Assist with internal audits, quality investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review production records and authorise product release where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and testing documentation.
- Work closely with production, operations and other internal departments to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment.
- Support continuous improvement across laboratory processes and testing methods.
- Carry out general laboratory administration duties as required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Previous experience within an analytical laboratory, quality control or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and analytical instrumentation.
- Experience maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
- Confidence interpreting technical data and making quality-related decisions.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using business systems or ERP software.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 standards.
- Experience developing or validating analytical methods.
- Understanding of regulatory documentation and Safety Data Sheets.
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment.
