We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Fitter to join a busy manufacturing team. You will be responsible for ensuring plant machinery and equipment run smoothly, supporting both production and fabrication operations. Your work will include preventative, reactive, testing, and emergency maintenance, prioritised according to operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out assembly, fitting, and mechanical maintenance of production machinery, conveyors, and fabrication equipment.

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including compressors, actuators, solenoid valves, regulators, power units, and cylinders.

Perform electrical maintenance, including fault-finding, wiring, commissioning, and testing of single-phase and three-phase systems, control panels, isolators, contactors, and overload protection.

Work with welding and fabrication equipment, including MIG/TIG welding sets and jigs/fixtures, performing minor repairs or prototype builds.

Support PLC-controlled equipment, including basic fault diagnosis and liaison with automation engineers.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Conduct routine preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns across a range of manufacturing machinery.

Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and compliance regulations, including Electricity at Work Regulations, PUWER, COSHH, LOLER, and manual handling.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and support continuous improvement initiatives in processes and safety.
Getting to Know You

Skilled in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within a manufacturing environment.

Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving mindset.

Qualified or experienced in Electrical Installation / Engineering Maintenance (Level 3 NVQ or equivalent).

Knowledge of PLCs, inverters (VFDs), sensors, safety interlocks, and relay logic desirable.

Familiarity with welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly.

Excellent communication skills, able to liaise with production, engineering, and management teams.

Organised, proactive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
