Production Operator in Uttoxeter

Salary: £13.75 per hour, rising to £14.25 per hour after training (plus £120 per week night-shift allowance)

Appointments Personnel is recruiting for Production Operators in Uttoxeter on behalf of a growing manufacturing business. This role involves operating machinery, assembling products and carrying out quality checks on a permanent night-shift basis, and would suit candidates with factory, production or machine-operating experience who want a settled role with full training provided.

The Role

As a Production Operator, you'll play a hands-on role on the production line, operating machinery, assembling products and completing quality checks to make sure production targets and safety standards are consistently met. Please note that new starters will initially work days or rotating shifts for up to 3 months while completing training (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm, Monday to Friday), before moving to the permanent night-shift pattern.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, load and secure moulds ready for production.
• Operate machinery and de-mould finished products.
• Set and adjust machinery controls.
• Cut, prepare and assemble products.
• Use cranes and lifting equipment safely.
• Complete quality checks and production documentation.
• Use power, air and hand tools.
• Monitor raw material levels and report shortages.
• Report maintenance requirements and faulty equipment.
• Work as part of the production team to achieve targets and quality standards.
• Accurately record production information using PCs and tablets.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this Production Operator role, you'll ideally have:

• Previous manufacturing or production experience (desirable, not essential).
• Experience operating machinery in a factory environment.
• A good awareness of health, safety and quality standards.
• A reliable, flexible approach and a willingness to learn.
• Good attention to detail and a methodical way of working.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• FLT/Combi experience, including in-house licences, is an advantage.
• Previous night-shift experience is beneficial but not required.
