As a Production Planner, you'll work closely with multiple departments, helping to balance production capacity, material availability, customer demand, and transport schedules. You'll become a central part of the operation, ensuring everything runs smoothly from order intake through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

As the Production Planner, your duties will include:

  • Creating and maintaining production schedules to meet customer demand and manufacturing capacity.
  • Coordinating with purchasing, inventory, and production teams to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Reviewing customer orders, sales forecasts, and historical data to support effective planning decisions.
  • Organising transport and delivery schedules across the company's fleet of wagons and vans.
  • Working closely with logistics, customer service, and production teams to manage daily and weekly delivery requirements.
  • Monitoring work-in-progress and adjusting plans to accommodate changing priorities and demand.
  • Communicating production schedules, delivery priorities, and updates across the business.
  • Identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts, capacity issues, and production bottlenecks.
  • Producing reports on production performance, delays, and operational activity.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across planning, scheduling, transport, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensuring all planning activities are completed in line with company procedures and safety standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile

To be successful in this Production Planner position, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within production planning, scheduling, supply chain, logistics, or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating production schedules against customer orders and available capacity.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • Experience in transport planning or delivery scheduling would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environments, construction products, joinery, or building materials would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles would be an advantage.
  • Good IT skills and experience using planning systems and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.

What's in It for You?

  • Collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Exposure to multiple areas of the operation including production, logistics, purchasing, and customer service.
  • Opportunity to contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency.
  • Long-term career development within a growing manufacturing business.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Stable, full-time position with a well-established employer.
