What You’ll Be Doing
As the Purchase Ledger Clerk, you’ll play a key role in keeping supplier accounts accurate and up to date. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Processing high volumes of supplier invoices with accuracy and attention to detail
- Preparing and completing weekly and monthly payment runs
- Reconciling supplier statements and following up on any discrepancies
- Maintaining accurate records of transactions and payment details
- Monitoring outstanding balances and resolving aged creditor issues
- Liaising with internal departments to resolve invoice or payment queries
- Assisting with month-end close tasks and audit preparation
- Identifying ways to improve systems and streamline processes
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from people who have:
- Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role, ideally within a multi-entity or group environment
- A strong understanding of accounting principles and ledger processes
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience using accounting or ERP software (e.g. NetSuite, Sage)
- Solid Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with colleagues and suppliers
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
It would be great (but not essential) if you also have:
- Experience working in a shared service or centralised finance team
- Knowledge of VAT and intercompany transactions
- An AAT qualification or are currently working towards one
