Senior Buyer (Manufacturing)

Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:00am–4:30pm)
Salary: Competitive, per annum + profit share bonus

Are you a confident and experienced Buyer ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a skilled Senior Buyer to join a successful manufacturing organisation based in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys negotiating with suppliers, and takes pride in driving cost efficiencies and process improvements. You’ll play a vital role in the purchasing function, ensuring materials and services are sourced effectively to support ongoing business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the purchasing process for a wide range of products and services.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Develop and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships.
• Support the achievement of departmental KPIs and continuous improvement targets.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to meet production demands.
• Utilise MRP systems to manage stock and purchasing requirements.
• Lead supplier resourcing and value analysis/value engineering initiatives.

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within a manufacturing or engineering environment (steel fabrication experience advantageous).
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Commercially aware, with a keen eye for cost control and quality.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with MRP or ERP systems.
• Experience in offshore procurement would be beneficial but not essential.
