We are looking for a technically minded and customer-focused Internal Technical Sales Engineer to join a growing engineering business and support a global customer base. This role is ideal for someone with strong engineering knowledge who enjoys customer interaction, preparing technical quotations, and supporting the sales process from enquiry through to order.
A little bit about the role
Technical Sales & Support

Work closely with the external sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical support throughout the enquiry and quotation process.

Develop strong product knowledge, including features, applications, and technical specifications.

Prepare accurate technical quotations and product proposals.

Interpret customer drawings and specifications to recommend appropriate engineering solutions.

Generate and qualify sales leads through phone, email, and other channels.

Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling equipment, spare parts, and service packages.

Analyse sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Office & Sales Administration

Manage sales documentation including enquiries, quotations, orders, and customer communications.

Support the preparation and maintenance of customer contracts for capital equipment.

Ensure administrative processes are accurate, efficient, and aligned with sales workflows.

Promote a collaborative and customer-focused working environment.
Customer Relations & Process Improvement

Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional and timely communication.

Respond to technical enquiries and resolve issues by liaising with engineering and production teams.

Support improvements to internal processes that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to improve cross-functional workflows.
Essential:

Experience in internal sales, technical sales, or customer support.

Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand mechanical equipment and engineering concepts.

Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce).

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Desirable:

HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Background in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, extrusion, or capital equipment.

Experience interpreting engineering drawings or technical specifications.
