Warehouse & Logistics Manager

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse & Logistics Manager to lead and manage our central warehouse and logistics operations. This is a key role within our Operations team, focused on ensuring efficient, accurate, and safe handling of goods, customer returns, and shipping activities. You will oversee a small team, drive process improvements, and manage both internal and off-site warehouse activities, with a strong focus on stock accuracy, obsolescence control, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations

  • Oversee all goods-in and goods-out processes, ensuring accuracy and timely handling.

  • Manage packing and dispatch of spare parts to maintain high-quality customer service standards.

  • Handle customer returns efficiently, working closely with internal teams.

  • Oversee stock control, including stock takes, cycle counts, and reconciliation investigations.

  • Collaborate with Finance to manage stock obsolescence and reduce overall stock value.

  • Continuously improve warehouse layout, racking, and inventory systems.

Logistics Management

  • Manage domestic and international shipping operations in compliance with export/import regulations.

  • Liaise with external logistics providers to ensure service levels, cost efficiency, and reliability.

  • Maintain strong relationships with carriers, couriers, and freight forwarders.

  • Oversee off-site warehousing, ensuring optimal space utilisation, service quality, and profitability.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a small warehouse team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Set team objectives and KPIs, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback.

Process, Compliance & Health & Safety

  • Develop and implement warehouse processes to support efficiency, traceability, and customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and internal standards.

  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions where necessary.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits and internal reviews.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in warehouse and logistics management within a manufacturing or distribution environment.

  • Strong knowledge of international shipping, customs documentation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Experience managing and improving warehouse processes and systems.

  • Proficiency with ERP or WMS platforms.

  • Excellent leadership, people management, and communication skills.

  • Commercial awareness with experience controlling third-party logistics costs and stock valuation.

Desirable Qualifications

  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety Certification

  • CPC or logistics-related qualification

  • Lean or Six Sigma experience
